Spartakiade is committed to providing an exceptional learning environment for our athletes. We will strive for excellence on and of the playing field and maintain the highest ethical standards. We will encourage academic achievement and will actively promote education as a means to long term success. Spartakaide athletes, coaches, support staff and parents will act with the highest sense of integrity in our behaviour and attitudes toward team mates, family, opponents, officials, and fans.
Spartakiade is an instructional organisation designed primarily to make athletes better. Presently we work with rugby league players but our systems and methods could be transplanted into a number of sports codes. We recruit players who want an opportunity to be seen by pro teams and understand they need to get better to compete at the next level. We create a group mindset and develop shared goals, then use them to drive up our training intensities and push our athletes to higher levels of achievement.

Spartakiade is based out of Western Springs College in central Auckland. This location provides a centralised base which allows our recruited players ease of access from all parts of the Auckland metropolitan area. Travel times from most suburbs in the Auckland area are 25 minutes or less. Western Springs College is located on Motions Rd in Western Springs across the road from the Auckland zoo.
Spartakiade operates in the New Zealand rugby league off season from November to March. Full practices start when high school exams finish in mid November. Practices are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and are approximately 3 hours in length. Daylight savings hours allow us to start practices in the evening (2010/11 start time was 5:00 pm), 2011/12 practices are still to be announced. An evening start also allows players to work through the holiday period. This practice schedule mirrors any professional workout schedule and would be similar to any NRL preseason. If you can’t handle a practice schedule of this nature, you need to seriously consider whether you have what it takes to play professional sport. If you don’t have what it takes we advise that you shift your focus from sport and education to education only. A good education will serve you and your family well for the rest of your life.
In short – because no one else outside the Warriors provides this type of experience for our young athletes. Spartakiade was developed to expose our New Zealand athletes to pro style training practices. Adapting to a professional organisation is a lot easier if you have experience in a similar setting. We also operate in tandem with pro organisations, this pro component is discussed on the Partners page.
