Players and staff from Spartakiade Rugby League took time out from practice on Tuesday to donate blood at New Zealand Blood Sevices’ Epsom office. After being encouraged by Rotary Henderson to donate, the team voted to take the time from practice to contribute to this extremely important cause. Some of our young men are apprehensive toward needles and blood in general so we are very proud of them to make the commitment to donate.
These were some highlights of the event:
On the day the players took full advantage of free hot chocolate and cookies.
Two players tried to get a date with the young girl looking after the coffee lounge and were rejected.
Toaf Sipley ate the most chocolate cookies.
Moses Briggs was asked by staff if he was going to be sick he needed to tell them.
We would also like to encourage everyone out there to also contribute to this cause and help save lives. Only 4% of eligible people in New Zealand donate blood each year, Spartakiade players and staff  think this number should be higher.
