TEST PROCESS
 
 

The Sparta testing programme:

10 metre sprint – explosive power, ability to accelerate from a static start.

20 metre sprint – ability to accelerate to top speed.

40 metre sprint – top end speed.

All run tests also give us the ability to evaluate run mechanics and flexibility. From what we have seen in our testing, run mechanics and flexibility are areas young NZ players could drastically improve their speed.

Vertical Jump – Lower body explosive power. The ability to co-ordinate an arm swing with the legs to produce maximum force.

Broad Jump – Explosive power and balance. Not only do you need to jump you also land in a balanced position.

Pro Agility - lateral quickness and explosion in short areas.

L-Drill - Ability to change directions at a high speed.

Bench Press – Strength and strength endurance. 80 kilograms - as many reps as you can get.

Stamina – SPARTA repeat sprint test. 20 x 7 second sprints on 30 second cycles.
